Obatzter, also known as Obatzda or Obazda (dialect for ‘crushed, pressed’), is a spicy, creamy cheese dip that is often enjoyed with pretzels in southern Germany. Incidentally, the name Obazda comes from the Bavarian word ‘obatzn’, which means to crush or mix.
Ingredients for 4 Servings
200 g No-Moo, Piquant [Order No: 403]
50 g vegan margarine
20 g water
1 tsp paprika powder
1/3 tsp ground caraway seeds
1/3 tsp rock salt [Order No: 305]
Pepper to taste
½ red onion, 35 g
20 g chives
As a side dish:
4 pretzels
Preparation
Allow the margarine to soften at room temperature.
Cut the No Muh, Piquant into 5 mm cubes.
Mix all ingredients together, except for the chives and onion.
Mash the vegan cheese cubes with a fork to create a chunky, creamy consistency.
Cut the onion into fine rings.
Finely chop the chives and use to garnish the vegan Obazda.
Enjoy with pretzels or a hearty slice of bread.
